This graceful decanter is a wonderful example of Wayne Husted's conceptual approach to design and shows how a minimal intervention to a form adds layers of meaning. Often referred to as the "torqued" decanter it begins as an elongated rectangular form that is then twisted from top to bottom. Of course this sounds quite simple, but the effect is deceptively difficult to achieve in a two foot tall piece of molten glass! The rewards of this challenging execution are immediately clear; the solidified form immediately recalls its molten, fluid state thereby evoking its Janus-like and mystical nature.
